Gatwick Pushchair Scheme for families on arrival

Travelling with children through Gatwick Airport has just got a whole lot easier, thanks to the launch of their brand new pushchair scheme.

They have identified how tough it can be on parents travelling with small children, especially on arrival to the airport from overseas. The arrivals lounges and areas are busy and bustling with travellers that have landed from near and from far; all trying to get their baggage and get out as quickly as possible onto their next, onward journey.

If your children have prams, you’ll be aware that they have to be checked in, so on arrival to the airport, parents and children would have to negotiate through the crowds, and wait for their own pushchair to come out of baggage reclaim. This could often cause problems as not only do little legs gets tired, but it’s an extra strain on parents arms too, along with the fact that it’s often impossible to juggle hand luggage and children sometimes.

Gatwick’s new initiative see’s the introduction of special Gatwick Airport pushchairs, which allow families to make use of them on arrival, for the inbound walk from the plane, to baggage claim. Once you retrieve your own pram from the belt, simply return the Gatwick buggy to the special drop off point, and the Gatwick staff will clean it, and return it ready for the next little legs to take a break in.

This new pushchair scheme is currently available for passengers and their families that arrive at both the North and South Terminal. They intend to closely monitor the process along with all feedback from users, before making the pushchair scheme available across the whole airport, over the next 6 months.
